Thanks... grabbed the blog shell from the Ottawa game on Feb. 3 -- a shortcut for having all the HTML stuff done, can do it from any past game -- and updated all the stat numbers and other respective team info but forgot to change the opposing coach. Fixed now.

The minimum return to Detroit is a 2018 fourth-round pick. The fourth-rounder becomes a 2018 third-round pick if the Flyers make the playoffs and Mrazek wins five or more games for the team over the remainder of the regular season.

The 2018 third-round pick could then become a 2018 second-round pick instead if the Flyers reach at least the Eastern Conference Final in the playoffs and Mrazek wins at least six playoff games. It takes eight playoff wins for a team to get to the conference final, so Mrazek would have to be Philly's primary starter in the postseason to potentially fulfill this condition.

Separate from the conditions for the 2018 pick -- and more straightforward -- is the condition on Detroit additionally receiving a 2019 third-round pick. If the Flyers re-sign Mrazek over the summer (which would likely mean that Neuvirth is traded elsewhere), Detroit gets the added pick to complete the compensation for Mrazek. If the Flyers elect not to bring back Mrazek on a new contract, the Wings will not receive the additional pick.

Oy, I doubt these conditions are met, but phew........

Like the deal, looking forward to seeing what Mrazek can do. Not concerned a bit with the “attitude” issues, kid was 24 and got a little cocky, stuff happens. From all I’ve been able to find, he’s had no issues re attitude at all this season.

The Flyers landed a 26 year old, very talented goaltender playing for a new deal and out to prove that he can be a top notch #1. In fact, the more I think about the deal, the happier I am with it.

Also, I am pretty convinced they resign him and let Neuvirth go via trade/buyout.

Do next season with Mrazek/Elliot, season after that with Mrazek/Hart.

My only wonder is what will be the term for Mrazek. Max 3 years?

Totally agree.

Especially since the Flyers were desperate for a goalie after the Neuvirth injury, did well not to pony up anything exubrent.

I actually think this could be like when Mason was acquired. Played well, earned a short term deal at lesser money then the QO.

The third-round pick condition (Flyers make playoffs, Mrazek wins 5 games) had better get met or the Flyers are in trouble.

The second-round pick version would sure be fun if it happens. Odds are realistically against it but I'd also add that I don't think ANY team in Metro is unbeatable in rounds 1 and 2. Every club, even Pittsburgh and Washington, has some flaws. Obviously, the Flyers have flaws, too.

Yeah I see the same and am guessing 3 years. If Hart seizes the reins in year 2, Mrazek could always be dealt prior to the final year or just kept as a good backup/insurance policy since cap wise, Hart will still be on his ELC.

I probably go 3 with Mrazek's deal. I tell him next year it's him and Elliott 50/50, the following is him with Hart under him(unless Hart crushes it) and then the next year it's a battle for the net. Be up front with them all going in and let it play itself out.

Neuvy is not getting the ice again unless something really goes sideways. Mrazek already beat Neuvy out for the Czech job during the last World Cup. Neuvy can sit and enjoy popcorn if he don't miss the rest of the regular season.

Yup and I’ll happy to part with a late 2nd if it means a trip to the conf. finals or beyond!

Don't you think Elliott would be back by then? This gives them the luxury not to rush but that's the reason I think he struggles to get 6 wins in the playoffs

Bill,

Based on Ron saying they are awaiting injury news today, is the speculation that Simmonds hurt his hand in the fight?

Yeah I'm looking at this deal most likely ending up 2 3rds. I'd love it to end up as a 2nd and a 3rd but that's a stretch. I really think if it becomes the second you almost have to sign him after the season because he's probably the reason you got that far.

Elliott may be back but I think the stated 5-6 week timeline for core muscle surgery repair rehab, getting in practice time and being 100 percent healthy and atop his game again are quite optimistic.

He could be.

But If Mrazek is on i think they would ride him in the playoffs.

When you really dig into the deal it's not a bad deal at all for a team who was desperate for a goalie and everyone knew it.

I'm not going to speculate. We will see. Although he moved down a line, he played his fair share of ice time in the 3rd pd on Sun. There's at least one other guy (Raffl) who has been nursing a nagging injury. So it is hard to say.

Detroit could have been considered desperate also as they wanted to get something for a guy they probably weren't giving a QO.

With it being Lindblom being called up we know it's top 9. Which is what I think is scaring us all as this team is looking great since the top 9 was tweaked.

I can live with Lindblom replacing Raffl. Hopefully the kid plays really well and when Raffl returns, he knocks Weise out of the lineup. Losing Simmons would really mess with the pp.
